Key highlights

The "Gelina" Ritual:

At the heart of the film is the unique art of "gluing" (decorating) the bride. We see experienced women masterfully painting the bride’s face with intricate patterns and sequins, turning her into a living painting. Each gelina is unique, symbolizing her transition into a new life.

Symbolism and traditions:

The film reveals the deep meaning behind the preparation of the cheiz (dowry) – a labor of love collected over years – and the symbolism of the mirror, which both protects the bride and allows her to bid farewell to her father's home without looking back.

A living tradition:

Gelina is not merely an ethnographic archive but a story about the future. Despite the challenges of time and migration, the weddings in Ribnovo remain a symbol of unity. The film shows that the younger generation chooses to preserve these customs themselves, guided by a deep respect for their family upbringing.

This documentary is an invitation to immerse yourself in a world where traditions are alive, and the uniqueness of each bride is a guarantee of the preserved identity of a community.
